No you do not need to be home during your new roof installation or a roof repair. We will need access to the service area and sometimes this requires access to the backyard. It is best to make sure all animals are inside if you will not be present.
Hiring a local roofing company can seem a little intimidating at first, but with these few tricks you'll have the confidence and knowledge to hire the right roofing company for you.
-Always do your research on any company that your looking to hire. Look for them on social media platforms and check out their website. Look and see if they have a good online presence.
-Make sure they have a good star rating on google. Also look for reviews in other places like the BBB or Facebook. And look through the reviews for yourself to see what sets that company apart from the rest if anything.
-Make sure their accredited with the BBB.
-Make sure they've been in business for a few years at the vary least and this goes back to the research part, try to see if they might go out of business in the next few years.(This will be hard to tell) But you don't want to call a company that installed your roof to find out they went out of business. Now whos going to back the warranty for your roof.
-Make sure there affiliated with a large roofing manufacturer(Owens Corning, GAF). No manufacturer will associate with an unprofessional roofing company. And to get a manufacturer to affiliate with a roofing company they have provide and prove a lot of information. So its safe to say that a roofing company that is affiliated with a manufacturer is going to be professional.
Yes, there is a difference in shingle manufacturers.
We recommend using Owens Corning shingles. Specifically the Duration line of architectural shingles or the Duration Designer line of architectural shingles. What makes these shingles different from others is the SureNail Technology. This is a wide and visible fabric strip in the nailing area of the shingle. This will ensure that the shingle is secured to the roof. It also provides a consistant installation of the roof. Besides the SureNail Technology Owens Corning Duration line has a 130mph wind resistance and a 10 year algae resistance. Not to mention that Owens Corning specializes in fiberglass products which is the foundation of every asphault shingle.
The main factor that determines what style shingle you'll want to choose is your budget. But that is coming to an end with the amount of roofing companies that are starting to offer financing(We offer financing). Todays standard residential shingle is the architectural shingle. 15-20 years ago 3 tabs were the standard. But that has changed due to the fact that architectural shingles are much more durable than your older style 3 tab shingle. Architectural shingles are two 3 tab shingles laminated together. This makes them twice as thick and twice as heavy. Archictural shingles typically come with a 35 to 45 year life span, 130 mph wind resistance and a 10 year mold resistance depending on the manufacturer. While your 3 tab shingles come with a 15 to 20 year life span, 60 mph wind resistance and a 10 year mold resistance depending on the manufacturer. 3 tabs are going to be your cheaper option but the colors and lines are becoming more and more limited as manufacturers phasing them out. Your architectural shingles come in tons of colors and lines. You can go with a high contrast designer line if your roof has a steep pitch or angle. Architectural shingles also come in different styles like the key style architectural shingles or the slate style architectural shingles.
